Arriving in Paris, I start learning two languages, French and drawing. In an artist’s studio, I meet Linda Demorrir, a live model. Like me, she is transgender and an immigrant. As I draft her outlines, it is also myself that I learn to draw.

The Birth of Naikee

By revisiting key elements of Naikee’s journey in her quest for identity and freedom, the film aims to question the overwhelming heteronormative standards of a society too binary to erect an ode to diversity. By re-interpreting Botticelli’s painting “The Birth of Venus”, Naikee asserts her right her right to become an image maker of the society.

Compton’s ’22

Three years before Stonewall, on an unknown date in August 1966, trans sex workers and drag queens in San Francisco’s Tenderloin district rioted against police violence at Gene Compton’s Cafeteria. There was no news coverage, and the arrest records no longer exist. Decades later, trans historian Susan Stryker unearthed the history of the riot and interviewed the surviving Compton’s Queens.

The Right to Joy

As a trans-masculine cyclist and policy scholar, Izzy Sederbaum was searching for community and acceptance within the sport after surviving a rare cougar attack. The film follows Izzy’s journey as he navigates the aftermath of the attack, overcomes his fears, and becomes a vocal advocate for diversity and trans inclusion within cycling communities across the country.
