Stuff As Dreams
Director: Guli Silberstein
A painterly collage breaking-up and collapses into itself. The work explores image-perception and the experience of the Real. ”These our actors, As I foretold you, were all spirits, and Are melted into air, into thin air…We are such stuff As dreams are made on…” (Shakespeare, The Tempest)
Director: Aaron Zeghers
An exploration of the anthropomorphic mythology of numbers. The camera pens a year-long almanac of space, movement and the passing of time, recorded 24 times every second – in-camera – onto Super 8 reversal film.
Director: William Randall
Landscape falls into an ecological fever dream as past and future go up in smoke.
Director: Kate Balsley
An abstract video composed of hundreds of magnified images of organic material, inviting the viewer on a metamorphic journey through the natural world.
Director: Dan Browne
An afternoon spent in an orchard picking fruit with family. “In the midst of beings as a whole an open place occurs. There is a clearing, a lighting.”
Director: Cecilia Araneda
Intricate hand-printed 16 mm footage becomes a dark ode to the possibility and impossibility of love. Reflecting on time, inner worlds and soft landings, we find desolate moments in life.
My Earth’s Eye
Director: Paul Turano
A portrait of a pond near my childhood home where I explored nature and the nature of being on the earth and of the earth. It was here that my parents taught me how to look and listen. Shot with a mix of analog film mediums and devices, through scientific and poetic lenses.
Director: Bradley Rappa
Incorporates time-lapse digital photography, 16mm contact printing, HD video, and an elaborate sound design to allegorically portray the detrimental environmental costs of rampant, unsustainable technological development. Inevitably, technology will end up consuming itself.
Director: Laura Kraning
Maps an enigmatic distant landscape excavated from hundreds of thousands of archival still images, forecasting visions of a possible future, transmitted from a mechanical eye.
