Mon Valley Trilogy

Mon Valley Trilogy revisits footage that was first shot 43 years ago. That film was called Homage to a Mill Town, the second film The Fall was completed in 2009. The third film Cite Specific was completed in 2023. The images are the same but thoughts generated by those images have changed over the years.

The Lost Season

The world is experiencing its final winter. A giant streaming company hires all available camera operators to film the final weeks of this soon-to-be-lost season. After seeing their footage as a form of ecological exploitation, the camera operators refuse to commodify further climate collapse with their labor.

Two Texas sisters fled to the metaverse at the onset of the pandemic, creating The Enclave, a cyber-haven for ‘like-minded women’. Years later, the suburb is on the verge of bankruptcy, and the owner is crowdfunding to save her digital utopia.

The Enlightenment

Listing dangerously into poetry, philosophy and sound art, we find Yon and Payola in a Victorian conservatory. They are companionable, disoriented and petulant––they whip wildly through these disembodied states. Payola reads an excerpt of their experimental essay on the age of enlightenment.
